Vinay Trivedi

Vinay Trivedi is an investor at General Atlantic, a global growth equity firm headquartered in NYC with more than $80B AUM and four decades of experience providing capital and strategic support to 500+ growth companies over its history.

Vinay leads investments in US software and is developing the firm's "hard tech" investment efforts focused on disruptive hardware-intensive businesses such as semiconductors, robotics, and IoT. Since joining GA, Vinay has played a leading role in several deals totaling $3B+ in invested capital, including Sierra Space, GA’s first investment in space transportation and infrastructure, Clear Secure, Mobileye, Gusto, VAST Data, and Hibob, among others.

Prior to General Atlantic, Vinay was a product lead at Benchmark- and Index-backed urban mobility startup Citymapper, which was featured as Apple and Google Apps of the Year for several years before its acquisition by Via. Prior to that, Vinay worked at Blackstone's Private Equity Group focused on technology and consumer investments.

Outside of investing, Vinay sits on the Advisory Council for the Center for Democracy and Technology, and is the author of How to Speak Tech, a technology education book motivated by Vinay's interest in STEAM education. He previously served as an advisor to the NYC Mayor's Office of the CTO, and was on the Steering Committee of Startup in Residence, a program created by the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Civic Innovation to support companies solving public sector problems.

Vinay was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated with an AB in Computer Science from Harvard College and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business with a Certificate in Public Management and Social Innovation. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, and is an avid tennis and Chelsea Football Club fan.
