Kelly Sims

Partner, Thrive Capital

 

Kelly leads marketing, communications, and public affairs at Thrive, and helps run day-to-day operations of the firm as part of Thrive’s leadership team. Her team focuses on telling the stories of Thrive’s portfolio companies, as well as Thrive itself and its leaders.

Kelly is also a current member of the board of directors for Shape Therapeutics, a preclinical stage biotech company developing RNA editing and gene therapy technologies.

Prior to Thrive, Kelly was Vice President of Global Communications at Twitter and ran the global communications team at payments juggernaut Stripe, leading everything from messaging and branding, public relations, policy and public affairs, social media, and internal communications across the world.

Prior to joining Stripe in 2013, Kelly helped start the San Francisco office of The Abernathy MacGregor Group, where she focused on IPOs, M&A, litigation, and strategic communications. Her clients included Toyota, Credit Suisse, Trulia, Zynga, HP and others. Kelly began her career working on some of IBM’s most budding and transformative technologies, including cloud computing, RFID and embedded sensors, cognitive computing, and Watson.

Kelly earned her bachelor’s degree in international business and communications from the University of Iowa. A New Yorker at heart, she now lives in Connecticut with her husband and two kids.
